Week 3 lineups - September 22, 2017
All my teams went undefeated in week 2 but week 3 is shaping up to be much more challenging
Zozobra has been averaging over 150 points per week but now I face a stiff challenge. This player is sporting 4 top notch RBs and Carlos Hyde already scored 22.9 on Thursday night. On my side I offer a superior QB, better WRs and I'm playing two Defenses (which sounds crazy but Defenses in this league score for both points allowed and yards allowed, so they start with a base of 20 points instead of 10). Both the Ravens and Broncos have plus matchups against struggling offenses. Losing David Johnson really hurts my run game.
Zozobra12 is by far my strongest team, averaging almost 175 points per game and it's not hard to see why. I have a top notch RB corps and rock solid receivers. My weakest spot is at QB, but I'm not too worried about the matchup this weekend. I'm pretty sure that this team will be 3-0.
Zozobra3 is my second strongest team averaging almost 160 points per week. Losing Greg Olsen to IR hurts this team so now I have Austin Hooper in that slot. This week they really have their work cut out for them, though and my opponent has already scored 46 points from Carlos Hyde and (inexplicably) Jared Goff! Again, I'm rocking two Defenses (Ravens and Broncos) and 2 quality QBs in Brady and Rivers but unless I get some outside performance from someone on this team it is going to be hard to notch a 3rd win here.
Zozobra4 is my lowest scoring team at just under 100 points per week, but it is 2-0! Even though nobody played on Thursday, I am at a definite disadvantage with him starting 3 decent QBs. I'm hoping the points start coming on this team because they will be dead meat once we get into the second round of the contest.
Week 2 lineups - September 16, 2017
Zozobra loses David Johnson, but the rest of the team is so strong I'm not worried that much. I didn't mean to start Andy Dalton on Zozo 4, but I forgot to make the change before the Thursday night game. I have tougher matchups this week. Zozo1 is facing a team that is starting Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers
Week 1 final
Week 1 went very well as I went 4-0 in my contests. Of course, it's easy to win when you have Kareem Hunt's 48 points on 3 of the teams! Week 2 is shaping up to be more difficult.
Week 1 lineups - September 9, 2017
Having Kareem Hunt on three of these teams has pretty much locked up my victories for week 1 (Hell yeah, 48.35 points!). Given that there are 4 different games getting played, I'm just posting my lineups and I'll let you know which ones I won. Looking at how the computer is setting their lineups (they're starting players from Miami and Tampa Bay even though they're not playing), I'm not worried.
September 9, 2017
I'm going to try to win some big money this season with Fantasy Football and I think I have the lineups to do it! I did four entries in the Fantasy Football Evolution contest for a $25,000 grand prize. The first 8 weeks of the season are like a regular fantasy football league. You play in a league of 12 players but all your opponents are computer players. You participate in a draft like you normally would and you get to pick your draft position. You need to get at least a 5-3 record to advance to the second stage. Once you draft your team you need to set your lineup each week, but there are no trades and no waiver wire pickups, what you draft has to carry you through the entire season. The league roster is as follows:
QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, 2 Flex (any position), K, DEF, 8 Bench. The league requires you to have 3 QBs, 2 TEs, 2 K, 2 DEF, 4 RB and 4 WR, which leaves three open bench slots for any type of player you want.
On my first draft I didn't realize that the flex positions could take any type of player, so you can start 3 QBs or 3 DEFs or 3 Kickers if you hate yourself! The league drafts like a Superflex league where most of the Upper Tier QBs go in the first 2 rounds (by my count 15 or more are gone by pick #24). So you absolutely need to spend at least one of your first two picks on a QB and I actually recommend getting two QBs in your first 3 picks. Don't worry about missing out on the elite players, you can still get a first round talent at WR and maybe RB by the third round. I also noticed that the computer drafts heavy toward RBs, so you have the ability to get good WRs, TEs and other positions later than you normally would.
I created 4 leagues and named them Zozobra, Zozobra 12, Zozobra3 and Zozobra4 based on their draft position.
Zozobra is really weak with QBs but every other position is loaded with talent (this was my first draft)
QB: Phil Rivers, Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater
RB: David Johnson, Kareem Hunt, Tevin Coleman, James White, Darren Sproles, Samaje Perine
WR: Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, Michael Crabtree, Larry Fitzgerald, Marvin Jones
TE: Travis Kelce, CJ Fiedorowicz
K: Matt Prater, Jason Myers
DEF: Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens
Zozobra 12 was my second draft and I chose the 12th draft position. Again I waited much too long to start taking QBs, again Im weak in that position but strong everywhere else:
QB: Carson Palmer, Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer
RB: Devonta Freeman, Ty Montgomery, Kareem Hunt, Derrick Henry, Samaje Perine, Chris Carson
WR: Antonio Brown, Golden Tate, Keenan Allen, Marvin Jones, Mike Wallace
TE: Rob Gronkowski, Jared Cook
K: Sebastian Jankowski (I just found out he's on IR and will miss at least the first 6 weeks of the season), Matt Prater
DEF: Broncos, Patriots
Zozobra 3 was my third draft in the 3rd draft position. Now I knew about the Flex anything option and went top 3 picks on QBs but I think the rest of my team suffered as a result. My intention here is to start 3 QBs every week.
QB: Tom Brady, Jameis Winston, Philip Rivers, Trevor Siemian, Deshone Kizer
RB: Tevin Coleman, Kareem Hunt, James White, Jamaal Williams, Deandre Washington
WR: Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, Michael Crabtree, Ted Ginn
TE: Greg Olsen, Austin Hooper
K: Matt Prater, Brandon McManus
DEF Broncos, Ravens
Zozobra 4 was my final draft from the 4th position. I tried to strike more of a balance and pretty much every player will have a bye week during the first 8 weeks of the season so the entire team will be at full strength during the critical weeks 9-11 where I need to score the most points.
QB: Aaron Rodgers, Andy Dalton, Blake Bortles
RB: Lamar Miller, Rob Kelley, Derrick Henry, Theo Riddick, Chris Carson, Latavius Murray
WR: Jordy Nelson, Golden Tate, Jarvis Landry, Larry Fitzgerald, Mike Wallace
TE: Delanie Walker, CJ Fiedorowicz
K: Matt Prater, Caleb Sturgis
DEF: Seahawks, Patriots
